Beautiful, with some surprises
The Nauhaus apt is ideal for a short stay if you don't plan to cook (or reheat food) and if you have no physical limitations. Love the feel of the home and serenity of the patio. Could be a 5 star with some attn to detail. I loved Jason's recommendation for Sunny Point Cafe and hiking in Dupont State Park - beautiful waterfalls. The description "fully equipped kitchenette" is not accurate. In fact, it's quite limited. I've stayed in many condos and rental homes and know what is to be expected in the way of cookware. I bought food for simple meals before checking in, and the lack of some basic things caused me to change meal plans and even throw away food. I found no condiments, only salt, pepper, sugar, and coffee. One aluminum skillet, but nothing non-stick. One small saucepan, with no lid. A metal steamer, with one of three legs missing. One baking sheet left in oven, with burnt food on it, and no foil to cover this mess. Measuring spoons, missing the Tbsp (which would be helpful for measuring coffee). There is no microwave. I learned the hard way that you need to turn some lights off before using the stove or oven; otherwise it will trip the breaker. (This must be the reason there is no microwave...and also the reason there is no vent in the bathroom - only a switch plate with missing knobs.) If you have physical limitations, you should know that the mulched walkway leading to the apartment entrance is long and steep, with no handrails. It is not well-lit at night. (An attempt has been made to light it with solar lights, but many are missing or broken. I am physically fit, but tripped on a wooden step going uphill in the dark.) At the entrance to the apt (bottom of the walkway) there is a brick area with one step down. The bricks across this step are not set in mortar; they have merely been placed down to look neat, but are not at all sturdy to step on. Little thing/big hassle: Hair dryer is listed as being included, but I found none upon arrival. After way too many texts and a phone conversation about this, Jason discovered that the upstairs guests had taken the hair dryer from its place the laundry room. (Not the bathroom!?) He asked us both to replace it in the laundry room after use. So I shared both the hair dryer and laundry W/D with the upstairs tenants. 2 other surprises: I was awakened at 6:45 every morning by footsteps above my bedroom. The wood bed frame creaks badly with every move and the mattress dips badly on the right side.
