Perfect little bunkhouse in the Tall Pines...
This review is a long time coming! We were among the first lucky renters when Gino listed the Dead Mule Ranch with VRBO a few years ago and have made many a return trip up to stay in his master-craftsman, straight-outta-Zane-Grey-country cabin! Gino is an artist, you see, and his talent shows everywhere you look in this charming log cabin. If you want to unplug and truly have an EXPERIENCE, stay here folks. The place is clean, well appointed, has everything you need, and is QUIET and off the beaten path! Having stayed quite a few times, this trip involved our family and Father's Day 2015. Our kids and grandkids and our grand-doggy all stayed at the main cabin, and my husband and I bunked into the small "bunkhouse" that Gino built for himself so that he could come up and sit and look out the picture window at the beautiful view of the famed Mogollon Rim (part of the Continental Divide)... equipped with a comfy old brass bed and some classic 'period' easy chairs, with windows all around, this place was perfect for us for the cool nights... we had the windows opened and actually had Elk standing outside our door during the night! AWESOME! The Dead Mule Ranch backs to the Tonto National Forest. For you, this means a quiet, peaceful, nature-filled experience like few you can find anywhere along the Rim. Don't miss it. Gino is a rare, interesting, talented individual who will be the best host you could ever ask for. He is there if you need him or want to chat, and if you are looking for privacy he Gets It! We consider Gino a friend after so many wonderful times up at the DMR. Sadly, he recently lost his beloved dog Rodger, who was truly a part of the overall experience at the DMR, and who is truly missed by all who knew him... RIP Rodger! We will come again and again to the DMR. Thanks Gino, always, and for everything!
