Great little place in a great location!!
We had a wonderful time at the Kona Isle in Kailua-Kona and I only wish we could have stayed longer! The condo, while small, was more than suitable for our family of 2 adults and 2 children. Our girls could have stayed in the pool from 9 to 9 if up to them as it was consistently the perfect temperature. The view from the picnic area was amazing and we saw humpback whales (Feb. is prime viewing time) and spinner dolphins flipping out of the water - amazing!! The vast majority of the permanent residents and other guests were super friendly and loved to chat. Lots of Canadians come here so it helps to know your hockey! The location is perfect in terms of getting around the island as we explored a lot of different beaches north and south, lava tubes, and also spent an overnight in Volcano National Park at the Volcano House Hotel. Some hints: Definitely hit Kahalu'u Beach Park. This might be the best snorkeling I have ever done with tons of tropical fish and even the occasional eel and loads of green turtles in the vicinity. If you like Vietnamese food, Ba-Le was really good and cheap and if you crave some authentic Hawaiin food, Da Poke Shack was a fantastic choice. We'll be back!
