Warm, welcoming, luxury experience
Like all good B&B experiences, the owners, Gary and Fiona really make this spot special. They responded to our last minute inquiry in under an hour and were thoughtful and helpful in every detail of our reservation and stay. The house is a beautifully restored historic building and for the history buff you will be thrilled to see original details and even a 1930's pamphlet for the boys camp that used to operate on the property. The room is very private and completely insulated from the owner's living area, yet the back porch room allows you to enjoy a common space and visit with the hosts. We loved the back yard, where they have hammocks, a fire pit, lovely flower gardens. (We found fresh bouquets picked for us every morning and evening) and you overlook farmland leading down to the lake. It's just a couple minutes to the public boat launch. We got to take our own canoe out and also fished from the launch area. There's several towns and the city of Augusta within a half hour drive, but we enjoyed the cottage so much we never felt like going anywhere else! The room and breakfasts were a total luxury experience. Silky sheets, soft towels, and well-stocked mini bar... We loved the French press. Fiona is a super chef, we were blown away at every meal, she always gave us way more than we could eat! We had a truly memorable and special stay and would love to go back in the colder months to sit by the fireplace in the private guest sitting room and play games by the woodstove on the porch. This will certainly become a favorite getaway for us for many years to come, thanks again Gary and Fiona for the fabulous stay.
