Amazing semi-oceanfront house in the Outer Banks(Ocean Lakes, Corolla)
This house was amazing and boasts all that it says according to the website! The house was clean and well maintained. We had a little problem with the grill, as the side table was very loose but we made do. The location was perfect, just steps to the walkway to beach. The house was spacious for our 11 adult group(even though some of our young "20 somethings" slept on the bunk beds); comfortable sleeping arrangements; kitchen well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils; the beach chairs, sand castle equipment, bacci ball, kite, boogie boards and cornhole game boards were put to good use and added welcomed entertainment. The deck views were amazing as each bedroom had access to a deck. We spent most of our time on the top deck which gave stellar views of the starlit sky at night and the ocean by day. We had a few questions after we arrived but the owner was quick to reply(ice maker making ice only every 24 hours, ceiling fan not working, how to lock the front door-pulling the door and turning the deadbolt). We spent our days on the beach, boogie boarding, kayaking(which was a rental of under $40 for a day and a half), crabbing at Whalehead, shopping at Timbuk 2, eating ice cream at The Fudgery(in the Harris Teeter plaza), taking a hike at the preserve near Whalehead, fishing in the ocean and taking long walks on the beach. We cooked in every night accept the night that we arrived. We ordered pizza from "The Big Slice" or "The Great Slice"( can't recall the name). Pick up time was 90 minutes. We should have gone to Harris Teeter right away(which is open 24 hours) and bought their pizzas which were about $7 each. We much preferred this grocery store rather than The Food Lion. The community pool is a short walk from the house and was refreshing. Like this website says, bring your own beach towels, dvds and board games. We would certainly rent this house again and highly recommend it.
