Immaculate, spacious gem in historic Salida
For the past decade I've been coming out to Colorado with a couple of friends to climb 14ers. As we've gotten older, our tastes have changed. At first we were good with pretty much any place to hang up our boots for the evening. Nowadays we prefer something a bit more comfortable: three bedrooms, clean bathrooms, comfortable beds (not the typically saggy condo cots you find in so many Colorado vacation homes), a well appointed kitchen, a deck with proper grill. Tara's house has all of those things and more. The private yard is a wonderful place to relax. The garage has no less than six fully functional mountain bikes. The kitchen has been meticulously overhauled to offer a great space for social cooking. The baths are large and clean. The attic loft is well ventilated and comfortable. Parking is ample. The downstairs bedrooms are large. The beds are all hotel-quality. The multi-burner gas grill made short work of some restaurant-quality steaks from the nearby Scanga meat company. Just as important, the location is ideal: close enough to down town to walk it in five minutes, but far enough away that it's quiet at night. We regularly waked down for food or drinks (or, in John's case, to spend a quiet hour catching Pokemon along the river). The walk is just long enough to help burn off the food. This year we conquered (well - climbed) Antero and Tabaguach. If our plans bring us back for more 14ers in the region we will definitely come back. If your plans take you to Salida, I highly recommend this excellent, clean, convenient, and relaxing rental.
