Winter Visit to West Corner
We enjoyed visiting this antique home nestled in a quiet corner of Grafton! We arrived just after Christmas and spent only 2 nights but enjoyed our stay in this very unique home. Sonali was very responsive to our inquiry and had arranged for the house to be ready for our arrival including farm fresh eggs and milk. Being in Grafton is a lovely experience and an educational one for teenage girls. This home is truly a lovely restored antique built in 1840 I believe. You definitely feel like you are in VT in a rustic environment that has been given lots of attention. We enjoyed one night at the Grafton Inn barn for casual dining but preferred being back at the house for dinner and a warm fire. We spent all of our time in front of the fire, reading, and also just listening to the great assortment of music. Our girls, ages 17 & 13 had never seen a turntable before so we gave them a lesson in how to use an album vs a CD. We enjoyed our dinner while listening to a variety of music ranging from James Taylor, to the Beatles, and then Cole Porter & Ella Fitzgerald. There is something for every age in their music collection. There was plenty of firewood available which is always a plus. This home was just big enough for the four of us. The master bedroom is spacious and the second bedroom is very small but perfect for our girls stay. Staying in this home is a very different experience than staying in a typical ski condo or hotel and a great way to spend a few relaxing days. We did not even turn on the TV which was a nice change as well. We did ski one day at Okemo which was very easy to get to as it was only 30 minutes up the road. There is also a small market where you can pick up the basics. Just to confirm, as has been discussed in other reviews, the home was spotless, the owners were available and helpful and the description of the property is accurate. This is a nice spot for a quick, quiet getaway to VT and we would recommend it.
