Wonderful house that's close to everything South-West Colorado has to offer.
I chose "A-TOP THE CARRIAGE HOUSE" because of it's close proximity to Durango and the San Juan mountains. I was in Colorado visiting colleges with my daughter and we wanted to also have some fun exploring the mountains. We were very happy with the house when we arrived, it does sit up higher on the range and you have a great view of the San Juan mountains from the big deck that has a nice table and grill on it. The living quarters are on the second story, it has a owners garage under it that is not part if the rental. The living space is well thought out and there was plenty of room for the two of us. It has a master bedroom that was very comfortable and the furnishings were more "home" like than a lot of other VRBO's that I have stayed at. My daughter slept in the loft and enjoyed the room. (note, the loft has a low ceiling and you need to climb a library style ladder to access it and it is open to the below living/kitchen room, she loved it). The kitchen and living room are one room and it has great seating at the kitchen counter and all the things you would want to cook dinner are included. Or just bring back a pizza and relax. The living room was well furnished and the open room makes it feel bigger, plus they have a lot of windows that when open provide a great breeze. I really enjoyed the shower and the bathroom was spacious with a full size washer and dryer that we used. The house was clean and well stocked. Steve and Holly were great people to deal with and were very quick to respond when I went to book the house. We ended up staying a extra day because there is so much to do and the house was so comfortable for us. NOTE- there is SO much to do around Durango, you might want to plan an extra day or two as traveling in the mountains and around the four corners area takes longer than you would think. We went up Hy 550 and did the loop around the San Juan mountains and also explored Mesa Verde National Park, the Four Corners, Telluride, Silverton and if your into off-roading I would HIGHLY recommend Ophir pass or Black Bear Road (BBP was closed so we did Ophir pass instead, BEFORE you take any mountain pass, "google" it so you know what your getting into and NO you can not take a car on those passes) We also went and rented a Polaris Razor ATV from Altitude ATV Rentals, had a blast up in the mountains riding and exploring the trails. In Durango we found plenty of shopping and I don't think you could ever go hungry, we ate at Fired Up Pizza.
