Feel Ripped Off! Great views but not worth it. Would have left but had no options.
Incredibly disappointed! We were immediately concerned about parking. The cabin is located so close to the road we were afraid a driver could swerve into our cars. Space for three cars only so we stored a car at a local lot. A smell of gas permeated the main room. We located the source and shut it off. Reported it and offered a service call, but declined - did not want to wait for a serviceman and not confident the problem would be solved. No alternative property was offered. Appalled at the condition of the cabin. The couch had holes, soiled pillows, cobwebs, ripped screen doors, broken moldy dishwasher, not a full set of dishes or serving utensils, filthy potholders, ripped hanging shower curtains, old comforters, lack of smoke detectors, ants everywhere, lamps without lightbulbs, etc. Amusing that the cleaner bothered to fold the toilet paper into a point, but couldn’t throw out the 2014 brochures or clean under the beds which were filthy. Did not want to start hotel hunting since we had made the investment. I brought supplies that made our stay more bearable. Before you get the idea that I am some spoiled city slicker, let me tell you that I lived next to the Colorado River at 7,000 ft. and am not unused to rustic settings. Bears would regularly enter homes in my community. But since when did rustic mean dilapidated? I realize that the cabin rents for a price that is not in the high range, but after the fees it cost quite a lot per night. I felt as if I was helping to pay property taxes and not one penny was put back into this place to make someone feel comfortable. An insurance charge in case I broke something? A high cleaning and laundry fee for comforters that are probably 20 years old and grime everywhere? A pet fee when the environment is not dog friendly? We had to keep the doors shut because of the torn screens so the dog would not get out. No place to safely walk a dog. My husband is a builder and was concerned about the safety of the staircase leading to the river. Railings were broken and the staircase was hazardly supported. The views are spectacular and many of the homemade furniture is beautiful, but there is a basic expected level of trust when you list a property on VRBO – that it will be clean, safe, well equipped, and not in disrepair. I recommend VRBO drop this property until it meets higher standards. I have photos to support my claims if interested. I would like my money back in full!
