Extremely lovely house!
My wife and I spent four nights at this wonderful one bedroom house surrounded by (almost) nothing but wilderness. The house is located in a sparsely populated small neighborhood off highway 11. As mentioned by other people as well, there are no street lights and so arriving for the first time during daylight makes it easier but it is no problem to arrive at night. In particular, the code system at the front door made the arrival super easy and flexible. We loved everything about the house! The living room is huge with a large and open kitchen in excellent condition and of very high quality. The kitchen was so inviting that we decided to cook every evening and loved it. We found everything we needed, just had to buy some salt and spices. The rest of the house is equally perfect. The bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed including an electronic heater which shows fake flames! This made the whole room even more cozy. The bathroom was very new and of high quality, including a large shower and a bath tub. Last but not least was the huge(!) patio! Outside was a dining table for four people as well as two comfortable rocking armchairs - there is no better way to relax. Besides the house being a perfect place to stay, we also loved its location! It was just a short (20min?) drive to Jagger museum in the Volcanoes National Park which allowed us to see the lava at night. This is a must do! The red glow of the lava combined with the stars were amazing! Also, you are close to Hilo and the Kalapana lava viewing area.
