Peaceful location with lots of great day trip options
The studio has everything you need - the hot plate/pan worked great! I hadn't seen one of these before, so if you are planning to cook just make sure to plan for '1 pot' meals (there are not separate pots and pans, the pan basically is the hot plate). It heats up fast and it was ideal for our needs with food allergy concerns etc. Also, there is a kettle for you, fellow Europeans :-). Most full kitchen units don't even have that, so it was much appreciated. Very friendly pets, our daughter loved playing with them as well as with the toys in the unit and play houses in the backyard. Bass Lake is very close. It took us about 1.5 hours to get to Yosemite Valley but you have that sort of time frame no matter which direction you enter the valley from. You get to pass through the historic Wawona hotel area on your way there. Check out Nelder Grove with a 2700 year old Sequoia, which is also a short drive away (dirt road part of the way and nice&secluded). Jay and Lori are very responsive, considerate owners and their oldest daughter gave us a great tour of the property&horses. I loved sitting and reading at the patio table in the mornings, with a view of the big backyard. And yes, there really is lots of birdsong :-)!
