Serene retreat high up in the mountains
Pros and cons, starting with the cons - the water pressure was pretty low so if you expect a "massage shower" to wake you up in the morning or to wash away the day, you will be disappointed. There is also no AC so if the days are hot and you do any cooking, the living space takes a while to cool down but the bedrooms have box window fans that provide relief at bedtime. We opted for ice cream cones on the porch as our preferred method of passing the time while the house cooled down. That's it for the cons! There are so many pros; the kitchen/house was well equipped, the beds were super comfortable (we all slept well every night!), Jack and Dayna prepared a fire pit for us which we (unfortunately) did not get to take advantage of because we spent so much time at the nearby creek swimming and catching minnows and crayfish...and practicing our rock skipping skills - so much fun for our young boys. Thank you for the suggestion Dayna. Even our toddler enjoyed floating leaves and sticks down the fast moving creek. The flower garden was a haven for butterflies and hummingbirds, I've got great photos of the boys with butterflies landing on them and "holding" them. There was no cell service on the mountain top but the WiFi was perfect. The boys did not want to leave, we definitely made lots of fantastic memories and the boys will have awesome stories to share when they are back in school. Thank you Dayna and Jack.
