My wife and I arrived in Grafton to celebrate our 10th anniversary. In all our past 10-15 stays with VRBO properties we have had either good or excellent experiences due to the amount of research we do before hand. This property was not good. On all of our other stays with owner managed properties (vs. formal property managed homes), we had either been met by a privately hired property manager who lives in the area or had a combination lock box with a key. We were given instructions by the owner before we left that a key for this home would be hidden in a certain place - but the key was not there! We could not get in, called the owner with no answer. Half an hour later we decided to bother the tenant who was renting the carriage home and she was nice enough to give us her key and luckily it worked but we were still without a set of keys for the home of our own to use. Upon entering the home, the thermostats were all set at 50 degrees. We were not told this up front and had to search out the 4 to 5 thermostats to turn the heat on. To warm up while we were waiting, we were going to start a fire in the fireplace in the family room but there was a sign next to it that said it was out of order. The home was advertised to have a working fireplace in the family room with no mention on the web site or by the owner before we got there that it was not working. We looked for a brochure of instructions for the house but could not find one. We finally found an electronic version of an abbreviated brochure on the computer (that was advertised as usable by tenants) - (again no reference to where to find it by owner or on vrbo listing). We found a property manager's name and phone number and called her to see what happened with the keys but she told us she no longer worked for the owners.. She did tell us where the set used to be kept when she worked for the owners and luckily we found a set and now at least had our own keys! We then turned on the TV to wait for things to warm up but the Netflix was not working either. We called the owner several times during our stay and never had any help ever getting the Netflix to work. The other really disappointing and disgusting thing that happened was that the house was infested with mice. There was literally mouse droppings everywhere in the master bedroom on all furniture (luckily not the bed). The only reason we give this a fair vs. a poor rating is that the kitchen and living room were great and the area was beautiful!!
