"Cozy Cottage Retreat" sums it up!
My wife and I recently (and reluctantly) returned from a week's vacation in this perfectly-sized-for-two country cottage personally built by its master craftsman owner. The house is solid as a rock with a beautifully finished interior and high quality appliances and furnishings throughout, clean as a whistle, and is fully stocked with all the necessary amenities. Nels and Shelly are wonderful hosts: friendly, caring, and always available should the need arise - indeed, to this northerner, they are very embodiment of that legendary Southern hospitality! Of the six days we spent there, two were rainy and provided "down time" to spend in (and enjoy) the cottage, and the other four days provided the opportunity to participate in some of the many activities the area offers. There are a number of excellent restaurants in nearby (about 20 minutes) Summerville, "Icehouse" and "Graze" being especially notable, and, of course, Charleston (about 50 minutes), where we enjoyed our lunch at Tommy Condon's. A walking tour of Charleston, a hike on the Palmetto trail, visits to Magnolia Plantation and Firefly Distillery, a trip to Walterboro and a walk through town and on the nature trail there - all were highly enjoyable and are recommended to vacationers interested in those kinds of activities. My only regret is not bringing my kayak as there is water everywhere, from creeks to rivers to bays, that looks most inviting! Maybe next time...
