Perfect winter weekend getaway with friends
We were a group of 10 friends from Boston and we had a blast! The pictures are completely accurate. It is a very well maintained, clean, spacious (yet cozy), right off of the main road and <10 minutes away from all area attractions. Brett was wonderful -- very prompt, knowledgeable, detail-oriented, available. There's also a concierge service included in the price. Mary Ann and her husband Peter will meet you at the property, help you settle in, help you find local activities, arrange rentals (like snowshoes), deliver groceries, etc. They are very available for any need during the weekend -- even if you just need to borrow a cooking spice or need help lighting the fire. It was really comforting to know that they were just a few streets away. The home itself was perfect for either an activity-filled weekend or relaxing at home. There is a shuttle service to all activities. The alpine ski area is just across 302. It's a very family/beginner-friendly mountain with short lift lines and almost no ice. Cosscountry skiing/snowshoeing is also within 5-10 minutes. You can pamper yourself at the Mount Washington Hotel spa (the hotel is a historical landmark). There is nearby ice skating, dog sledding, sleigh rides and tubing. We didn't eat out at all. I got the sense that dining out options were limited. We had lots of relaxing time at home too. We cooked several meals and found the kitchen fully stocked (there was even a cheese grater). I would, though, recommend bringing your own spices. There was tons of wood for the fireplace. There is a living room one the main floor and a family room/game room on the lower level -- which is nice if you have teenagers who might want to stay up late. There are lots of board games and several T.V.s. There were plenty of bathrooms for everyone. Towels and linens were included. Some of the bathrooms even had shampoo and conditioner. It very much felt like a home, not a generic rental. Though I had been wary of renting a townhouse, it was very roomy and we had some great views. You didn't feel boxed in at all. There is only parking for 2 cars but the spillover lot is just a 2 minute walk away. The only caveat is that the twin beds (especially the lower level ones with footboards) are a bit short for anyone taller than 5'4". That being said, even the over 6 foot guy managed to curl up and get a good night's sleep in one of those beds. I did a LOT of research before renting and I confidently recommend this place.
