Ideal for people who enjoy quaint
If you don’t like quaint, you won’t care for this place. It is an old building with quirks. It was formerly a men’s residence for employees of a long-out-use copper smelter. It has been partially refurbished. Floors have been redone, but not the windows, which are loose fitting, single pane variety. Several were cracked. The bathtub is the old style claw foot tub – quaint, but difficult/dangerous for folks my age (mid-70’s) to get into and out of (no grab-bars). The single heat source is in the kitchen/eating area. The ceiling fans must be deployed to heat the bedroom and bath areas. My visit was in early February, with nighttime temps in the 30’s and daytime temps in the 60-70’s. The unit doesn’t seem to have air conditioning, so not sure how comfortable summers are. There is WIFI, but service ranges from slow to non-existent due to frequent connection drops. Minor irritants include: a) the only mirror is the one above the bath sink; b) the refrigerator is very loud; c) the kitchen is ill-equipped (e.g. no rubber spatula) The things I liked: a) the bed was large and comfortable; b) the bedroom was large with sufficient closet space; c) the views are nice, particularly the sunrise viewed through multiple east-facing windows.
