Friendly, comfortable house by the water.
Sunset cottage was a terrific experience for my family. The home is located in a neighborhood, however, the lake property is just across a two lane road. The fishing was great off their pier. We also visited Duck Lake, a state park with two beaches and Meinert park near the White Lake Channel. As for the cottage, it was very comfortable and clean. The hosts provided amble amenities including linens, TV's, kitchenware and supplies for a nice bonfire. What impressed us most was the accessibility of the hosts. If you need a suggestion or information, Tonja or Che'rie were always happy to help. The two cities Whitehall and Montague are so close together, you will visit both frequently. We really enjoyed Gary's restaurant for breakfast and had authentic Mexican food at a humble place called Taqueria Diaz - delicious. We bought take-out pizza from the Pizza Joint (next to Gary's), the deep dish cheese pizza was incredible! For groceries, we visited Montague foods a lot. On Saturday's and Wednesday's, there is a small farmer's market downtown that was worth the visit. We cannot recommend Villa Venafro Restaurant. The food was bland and heavy, for a house salad they put a slice of pepperoni on a fist full of iceberg, ugh! It's a 30 minute drive to Pentwater which is a nice day trip. If you are looking for a good vacation experience, we would definitely recommend Sunset cottage. BTW, the sunset's were beautiful.
