Cute, well-appointed little apartment
My wife and I enjoyed 3 nights in this nice little upstairs apartment. Nora was a gracious and helpful host, but was never obtrusive. We felt plenty of privacy with our own separate entrance, and although we knew there were others living downstairs, it felt like our own little world up there, with views out over the rooftops of Eureka. The old Victorian is charming enough that we didn't mind the little quirks that come with a place like that. The bed was squeaky but comfortable and the blankets were perfect. One window has to be propped open, which just makes you feel like you're living the Victorian dream. The hot water was slow, but honestly it's slower at our own house. Again, for every little quirk there were many things of beauty. Having a full kitchen, well-stocked with everything needed for even a gourmet chef, made a big difference to us - we even got ice cream for the freezer! We loved the cool evening breeze coming through the windows at night, and marveled at the lack of heat and bugs at the height of summer. My wife spent hours in the chaise lounge and keeps talking about getting one for ourselves. Don't be fooled by the low number of reviews on this website. This place is also advertised on That Other Website, and both the apartment and the host are experienced and well suited to take care of every visitor's needs. We'll probably be back!
