Location was the Reason
Right next to the subway and 4 blocks off Broadway. I expected an upscale apartment with basic amenities. The lock to the building required finesse and patience. Could not exit the apt by one door, the knob just spun, thank goodness it had 2 doors. The apt. was in great need of cleaning and a coat of paint; very tired looking, cupboard door missing. The hallways of the building had trash spilling over. There were four of us. We were provided 2 bath towels, a 1 hand towel and 1 washcloth. Looked in closets and found a basket of towels-clean or dirty? All correspondence by email or text, only. Owner did answer promptly. When I identified that there were cockroaches he had exterminator ready to come out that afternoon. Cost = $817 for 2 nights (300/night, 92 tax and 125 cleaning fee) Hilton on Times Square was $940/2 nights + tax. A far cry difference for just over a hundred dollars.
