The "Too Short" Weekend
We arrived late morning to the glorious beauty of a mountain haven. The river's voice resonated off the surrounding mountains and the pines engulfed our senses with their delicate aroma. As you enter the cabin, you are impressed by the rustic and historical charm that has been preserved. There's a wood burning stove in the kitchen that helps you prepare culinary delights while warming the body on those cool mountain mornings. The hummingbirds were abundant during our stay and watching their antics around the feeders was entertaining from the dining table. Hiking trails are nearby and proivide great exercise as well as continued scenic beauty. We have slept outside on the porch and upstairs. We much prefer the porch sleeping. It's like being in a secure tent that has comfy beds with warm blankets. The sounds of the river are the sweetest seranade one could ask for to induce a peaceful nights sleep. If you are privileged to take children to this secret hideaway, there is a cottage just for them, equipped with everything a youngster needs to dream away the hours. Whether it's a honeymoon selection or a family reunion, this is the place to create memories that will last a lifetime. We have returned to enjoy this setting and will do so again. A treat for the eyes, a balm for the spirit and a refreshing breath for the soul.
