Comfortable, Cozy, and Centrally Located!
This was our first time renting a house for vacation instead of getting a hotel room and we had a wonderful experience at Monica and Steve's Hideway. The lovely beach of Lake Huron is just a short walk down the road and the clear water was great for swimming. We brought our telescopes for star gazing and the lack of light polution in the area was perfect for seeing the Milky Way and catching the last night of the Perseids meteor shower. The house was clean and cozy. The backyard was a great hangout spot after a day of adventuring in the surrounding state park or beach, complete with fire-pit and charcoal grill. They have a great array of games including Cornhole and Horseshoes, or if you happen to get rained in one day like we did, they have a great game room, board games, and a record player complete with records. The kitchen was well stocked and the house is spacious while still being cozy. You feel right at home the moment you walk in the door. Monica and Steve had laid out lots of brochures about things to do in the area and we took full advantage of the suggestions. Its central location makes it wonderful for vacationing if you are up for some adventuring. Mackinaw is only an hour away and made for a great day trip. The Ocqueoc waterfall is only 20 minutes away and is open to the public for swimming. Alpena has a great glass bottom boat tour and is only about 45 minutes away. It is also worth noting that Rogers City is home to the worlds largest open pit quarry and is an impressive site to see when you are in town. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back!
