Beautiful Location for a getaway
Rockpile Ranch is a great hidden getaway retreat. It was perfect for a group getaway with some close friends to celebrate a few birthdays. The property is hidden well into woods past Lake Sonoma and requires some driving to get to the actual homes and properties. Both homes on the property were cute ranch style homes built in the early 1900's. The place has looks to have been partially renovated in the past few years so a lot of the amenities are new. The beautiful vineyards, open space, and amazing views were the highlight of the property. Stargazing at night after the mosquitoes have died down is a must. The property is far from any major shops, stores and restaurants so make sure you bring groceries in to cook, basics cooking items were missing from the house (salt, pepper, oil), but pots/pans were plentiful. We came across a lot of spiderwebs inside the house when we arrived, I'm not sure if it was because not many people have stayed in the house or because we're so far out in the middle of nature that the spiders built webs super fast. The small lake on the property is low and not really usable most likely due to the severe droughts California has been having for a long time, but it was still beautiful with dragonflies. Dinner using the grill outside on the patio of the main house is must as the evening sky darkens and the temperatures start to cool. All in. I'd come back again. This was a great getaway.
