Most relaxing vacation in years
You know that feeling when you rent a vacation house and you are always a little apprehensive about what it will actually turn out to be? Worry no more. For us, this place was ideal. We selected the Winery House, one of two properties on site which are available for rental. The setting is fantastic. Beautiful vineyards on 30+ acres of gorgeous rolling hills with beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mtns in the distance. If you brought your dogs you may walk them on paths or trails that wind around the vineyard. Just step out the door and you are there. If you don't want to walk the dogs but want to let them out for a potty break or simply to play, there is a enclosed area right across road next to the winery. Ken, the host, has two dogs (Quake and Phoebe) that are on property when he is there. They are friendly and after a brief introduction between dogs they go about their business. In fact, one of our dogs is not crazy about other dogs so at first I was a little concerned when they come to say "hello" but he actually ended up buddying up with Phoebe and he would look for her when going out for walks. The dogs are not pests nor intrusive and I enjoyed seeing them. The house has 4 bedrooms (1 master with bath and queen bed, 1 with a queen bed, and 2 bedrooms with twin beds). There is another full bathroom in the hall. Living room is comfortable and spacious and the kitchen has everything you need and it opens to a dining area. Dish TV and WiFi is available. The screened in back porch was our favorite, it is large with a nice big table and comfortable chairs and opens to a smaller grilling area. We spent most of our time there as the weather was fantastic. There is another house, the Vineyard House, which is to the left of the Winery House as you face the front porch. I believe it is also 4 bedroom, 2 full baths but not 100% sure of this. It is a two story house. These houses are not right on top of each other, plenty of privacy. Ken, the host, was never intrusive but always available if needed. He will respond quickly. If you want to get out and explore Mt. Airy is about a 15 min drive and has Food Lion and Lowes grocery stores. There are plenty of good places to eat and of course if you are an Andy Griffith fan you will enjoy the museum and other attractions. A free wine tasting was also included, an added bonus. Nothing more pleasant than a glass of Round Peak on the porch. We took a few home to remind us of the wonderful time we had.
