We had a lovely week of lake family fun despite a few glitches.
When we arrived we had a lot of food for the week. The frig was warm and not working properly. That was a Saturday. I contacted the owner. Sunday was not a day (apparently) that he could get a new frig delivered. We had to use two coolers and constantly buy more bags of ice to save our food. There was record heat that week. I contacted the owner several times. He said on Monday a new frig would be delivered. By 1000a Monday nothing--so I texted owner and left many voice mails. He instructed ME to contact the local Lowes (stating he had talked with them). I then spent nearly ALL of my vacation day Monday on and off the phone with Lowes. It was a nightmare! They claimed they had no knowledge of a delivery. Then claimed they could not get a frig to us on Monday. Blah, blah. FINALLY I had to get VERY assertive with the Lowes manager and at about 230p a new frig was delivered. So nearly 3-days with no frig and my Monday of "vacation" was spent sitting in the cottage waiting for the delivery while family enjoyed the lake. I do not think this should have fallen on me as the guest. In addition, on Saturday night at 1100p we were exhausted as was the rest of family. We realized at that time there were NO SHEETS on beds and NO Towels. I asked owner the following day and he said he had sent an email to us to bring linen?? We never received that email. We dug sheets and towels out of owners closets and used those for the week. I feel strongly that I should be compensated for the frig issue/loss of day Monday with a refund of one-nights stay. To date owner has not responded to that request.
