Relaxing stay in this comfy cabin
Went up to Show Low for some solitude and to get some research done for an essay, and I'm glad I booked this cabin. From the time I walked in, greeted with a bottle of wine and note, I trusted I found the right place. It's far enough from the main drag that it's quiet — the only thing I could hear at night were little creatures rustling leaves outside and a mechanical clock in the dining room. Even so, it's a five-minute-or-less drive to chain restaurants, local restaurants, grocers, box stores, a theater, and more. Some other awesome points: Immaculately clean, good coffee by the machine (complete with coffee aficionado humor), natural lighting to help get yourself from 0 to 60 in the morning, dishes and kitchen tools for just about anything, covered parking, mosquito candles on the deck table, great wifi in the clubhouse (which was empty both times I went in, so it's also a nice place to unwind alone or with a friend, over a game of pool), and a wall-mounted stereo system hooked up to a CD/DVD player in the dining room. Negligible issues: No wifi in the cabin (but that encourages us to unplug and get out, so we really win here), fireplace isn't wood, shower ran out of hot water rather quickly my first morning (but we ought to conserve, anyway). No biggies — honestly, if these things are deal-breakers, expect to pay a lot more for a different place. For me, these little compromises were WELL WORTH the lower price. And that's what it comes down to. I'll be back in June or July, this time with my girlfriend. You could say I enjoyed my stay. :)
