BEWARE: Photos are decieving and sheets were filthy
This review is written by someone who LOVES NC and the mountains. I have proudly called this state my home for 30 years. My family and I recently stayed here for 6 nights for our yearly family vacation and birthday celebrations for my husband and daughter the first week of July 2015. We had enjoyed the area of Hot Springs a year ago and wanted to go there again. After doing what I thought was extensive research, we decided to rent this cabin. We were first of all told it was only 10-15 minutes to Hot Springs, when in fact it takes anywhere from 25-30 minutes to get there. We were lead to believe it was a charming cabin in a great setting.....this is partially true. The cabin itself was acceptable. The setting was anything but nice. The cabin itself sits in a field behind a dilapidated single wide trailer, in front of another house and RIGHT next door to a church (You have to drive through the church parking lot to get to the cabin). There is a field in front of the cabin too in which a tractor was spraying pesticides on early one morning that woke us up. The first problem we had was when we went to get into bed on our first night there. My 12 Year old daughter complained that her sheets didn't appear to be clean. There was dirt and hair all over them. So upon inspection, we determined that they had not been changed from the previous guests. We then checked our bed and low and behold, our sheets were just as filthy. So we had to stay up until 2:00 am doing laundry. We contacted Peter the next morning with our concerns about the cleanliness of the cabin and he assured us he would contact his cleaning company. He then said how difficult it was to be an "out of town" owner. The other issues we had were the fact there are only 2 loveseats in the living room and the pub table in the kitchen isn't large enough for four people to eat on. Is the cabin on a river you might ask? Not really, in my book I would say it's sort of a creek. There were only 2 towels per bathroom and only 2 rolls of toilet paper. I guess at this price your expected to wash your towels and shop while on vacation. My advice, book somewhere else!!!!! This place is way too expensive for what you get. When we asked Peter what he as going to do for our inconvenience and the misrepresentation of the property, his answer: "Nothing".
