Charming and well-appointed getaway
The cottage was very neat and had all the necessities for an enjoyable getaway - firepit and gas grill, kayaks (with paddles and life vests), bikes (which we didn't use). It is not directly on the waterfront, but there are many beaches close by. Pentwater and Ludington are both enjoyable towns if you really need your internet fix or to do a lot of shopping. The cookware and flatware and place settings were all matched sets, which isn't what I was expecting, from my memories of family vacations on the lake. If the spiral staircase scares you, there is also a regular stairway outside the back side of the house. The owner was pleasant and reimbursed me for refilling the propane tank. If you are a Michigander, be sure to get the license tab that gives unlimited daytime access all year to the state parks - Mears State Park in Pentwater is an excellent beach for a day visit, and Silver Lake and Stony Lake are also in easy driving distance. Pentwater has several enjoyable restaurants, although somewhat on the pricey side. Ludington is somewhat more reasonably priced, but fifteen miles away. That's where the Meijer and Walmart and Aldi are.
