Idyllic Family Retreat
We stayed here for three nights and our only regret is not being able to stay longer. The photos don't do this place justice. The location is absolutely perfect. It overlooks the creek, with a staircase leading right to the banks. It is so peaceful here, with the sounds of rushing water and birdsong as your only background music. My husband wanted a place that was near the water with accessible hikes and explore-the-forest options, and I wanted a clean and comfortable place roomy enough for our family of five plus our Lab. We definitely got both in this special place and will absolutely be booking future stays. The home was equipped with everything we needed and we easily cooked our meals at home each day with the food we brought. There was a TV with Netflix I think but we never even turned it on, as we were too busy enjoying the quiet and family time playing games, sitting on the patio, walking the creek banks and taking a spectacular hike nearby. In the three days we were there, we never saw or heard another soul, other than someone walking a dog way in the distance, and one man getting his mail. Just lovely. One thing I would like to suggest if you book this place is to be sure to print all documents/emails, especially the code to get into the key box, because there is no phone service in the area, and while there is WiFi, you have to get into the house to turn on the modem. Don't be like us and assume you can just get the information on your phone when you get there. We ended up having to drive about 12 miles back toward the highway before we were able to get a faint enough signal to access our emails, where we got the code to get into the house. But even that little hiccup couldn't cause too much stress when you're in such a calm, beautiful setting. We have rented many homes at beaches and forests and have specific things we look for, and this one was one of our favorites, and the process was seamless (except for our bonehead move of not printing out the code to get in!). Even though we never saw or talked to the owners, we felt welcomed into their home.
