My family also accompanied by 2 large-ish dogs, rented this little gem for a weekend in July. Betty thought of almost every detail and provided nearly everything for a fuss free vacation. There was champagne on the dining table (would have been nice to have ice) , a "movie ready" basket with assorted treats, mints on the pillows and my personal favorite-historical books about the area. As one former reviewer pointed out, this wonderful retreat is in an area entirely consisting of vertical living. That being said there are numerous steps (about 2 flights) down to the front door from the street, and a flight of stairs down to the bedrooms/bathroom, additionally there are steps to access the hillside under the home. It is probably not an ideal location for someone needing friendlier/handicap accessibility. We wanted a full on mountain experience with our family and we got it! Our accommodations were wonderful, clean and well stocked, and the town of Crestline is rich in local history and recreation. Our dogs even got the full experience and hopefully learned not to stick their noses in little skunks' holes'! As a side line to that note, Crestline pretty much rolls up the sidewalks by 10pm, and 7-11 only carries so much. Plan accordingly.
