We loved our stay in this wonderful aerie perched high on a mountain with amazing views! Very open floor plan on the first floor with a great room w/nice fireplace (which we used on two chilly nights), a dining space and big, fun kitchen with breakfast bar. With lots of windows and yet lots of privacy, the home is flooded with natural light, and although there are neighbors nearby (a plus for me - I don't like being completely remote!), you don't see or hear them. We sat on the big, open front porch as well as the charming screened porch, and slept peacefully in the large second-floor master suite. Two bedrooms on the first floor look cozy and comfortable, although we didn't use them on our visit. We saw (or heard) lots of wildlife: juncos, towhees, rabbits, hummingbirds and owls, and on our last morning were awakened by two wild turkeys passing by! I took tons of photos of the abundant wildflowers. Although it's accessible from Franklin, Highlands and Cashiers, we chose the Cashiers route and ended up going into town each day for lunch, sightseeing and shopping. It takes 30 minutes to get into downtown Cashiers, but it's such a pretty drive that we didn't mind the distance. If you're looking for peace and quiet and a comfortable place to land, give this home your serious consideration. The owner has thought of everything - even flashlights in case of a power outage! - and extra linens, plenty of kitchen utensils and lots of books. It feels like you're staying in a friend's house, not just a plain-vanilla rental.
