My wife and I invited our grown children and their spouse to spend a week with us at The Water's Edge at Kealakekua Bay in mid-March and it was fantastic. The house was clean and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. But, that wasn't the best part. This house has the absolutely best location on the island for snorkeling, kayaking, watching the sunset and meeting local people. You can snorkel right in front of the cabin and see many species of fish as well as sea turtles and a couple of Moray Eels. You can rent kayaks from the neighbor or from another vendor a short distance away and it is an easy paddle to the Captain Cook monument across the bay. The days we went snorkeling we didn't get to swim with the Spinner Dolphins but we did watch others do so several times. The trip from the house to the main highway is curvy and very interesting with the wild chickens and Mongoose you see frequently crossing the road. We did spend a couple of days sightseeing and it wasn't the most convenient but is very doable and worth the effort. All told, this is the place to rent if you want a quite place with many things to do right in front of your house. We all hated to leave and will most certainly try to rent this place the next time we are on the Big Island
