Wonderful townhouse & unforgetable trip for the family
We stayed at Mario's townhouse for spring break with 2 kids and we loved it. The place was very clean and comfortable, with a washer and drier which proved to be essential after all the hikes we did in the Red Rock country. We had everything we needed, including a telescope which we used to see the amazing Sedona night sky. We also appreciated the Red Rock country pass that we used for a couple of hikes. The drive to downtown Sedona is about 12-15 minutes but the views you'll get driving to and back are breathtaking! One thing to be aware of - unrelated to the townhouse - is that although it sits on a beautiful golf course, the options to stroll around with the kids are very limited. We took a walk on the course one quiet afternoon and we were not welcome, to say the least, by the golfers. The area outside the golf course isn't walkable either so just something to know if you are planning to explore the vicinity by foot with little kids (I saw many people walking/jogging on the road, but it was fairly busy and didn't feel safe to do it with a 7 and 3 y.o.). If we return to Sedona (and likely will) we would stay here again. It's just a lovely place. In terms of hiking, for families with kids I highly recommend Fay Canyon, Little Horse and West Fork (which is a 6 mi round hike with a total of 26 creek crossings, but so well worth it). The Grand Canyon is about 2.5 hours away and very doable. Also nearby by is the Sunset Crater, near Flagstaff - spectacular (easy) hike on ancient lava that would be a hit with kids. Drive up to the airport overlook for a stunning view of the valley. We loved lunch at Wildflower Cafe in downtown Sedona.
