Wonderful Lakefront Getaway
We arrived at our cabin much later than expected on our check-in date, so it was pitch dark outside but we were able to hear Lake Huron lapping at the shore just behind the cabin. We knew we would be waking up to a beautiful sight the next morning, and we certainly did! The lake was right out our back door -- what a beautiful horizon. It was just my wife and I on this trip. The Lightkeeper cabins are all neatly kept and perfect for a getaway. They are small and cozy but not cramped. The bed was very comfortable and the shower head was great. We did not use the kitchen much during our 2-night stay (except for the fridge). The TV was completely modern and the wifi worked well, though we didn't have our laptops out much. Who wants to work when you're in a cabin by the lake? It was a short, easy drive to ice cream in Grindstone City (we recommend Rybak's) and to Port Austin, where we kayaked on the lake. Even the drive over to Caseville for dinner was easy and very scenic. The owners, Bryan and Laura, were a pleasure to meet and are doing a great job with the property. We would definitely recommend these cabins. They're remote for a quiet getaway yet convenient for activities you want to do all over the thumb of Michigan.
