Cool Little House With A Great Location
This was my first time ever booking a house for a weekend stay so my expectations were mixed. The house is located in a clean and quiet neighborhood that has limited parking after sunset. I have a 2015 Camry that barely fit in the small driveway which was never an issue, but definitely worth mentioning. We used Uber both nights to get to The Hard Rock hotel, prices varied between $8 and $11 dollars. There are a lot of Uber drivers in this area so we never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. I did notice quite a few local places that were within walking distance and I wouldn't hesitate to walk around this area at night. The house has a small patio area in the front yard with an enclosed a fire pit and a few benches. We didn't use this space although I'm sure we would have if we'd spent more time at the house. Once I got inside I quickly realized that there is no central air and it was stuffy inside when we arrived. I turned on the kitchen window A/C unit and it took a while to cool the house down. Thankfully there are ceiling fans in the living room and one of the bedrooms. Again, not a huge deal but worth mentioning. Now, for a few items that lead to my 4 star review. When I closed the door to one of the bedrooms I found myself trapped inside the room. The door knob would not turn. My observation was that these knobs were chosen for nostalgia, not function. The fine tuning that is required when updating a home of this age was missing. Personally, I prefer function over form when it comes to home renovations. This house had several little issues like that. The bathroom door knob fell off every time the door was pulled closed and none of the door locks worked. The shower had a throw back type of knob setup that simply did not work properly. Water poured out faster from the faucet than the shower head no matter what setting the valves were on. The drain can't keep up so I ended up in standing water past my ankles. The beds were comfy and the linens were clean, but the pillows were cheap and thin. No dresser made unpacking pointless. When I pulled my phone charger out of a living room wall socket the entire outlet came with it. I am not a complainer and we were only there for 2 nights so I didn't even bother to notify the owners about any of these issues until I checked out. I'm confident that a qualified handyman could make this a 5 star house in a single afternoon. I would recommend this home with a fair warning not to expect perfection
