Casual and Perfect for 4 with Amazing Views
This house was a really great space for my husband and me, and our 2 kids (ages 3 and 5). It was a touch rustic which gave it a very laid back feel, which was great for us! We stayed 3 nights over 4th of July weekend, and it was a delightful little ocean escape! Pros: 1. Both bedrooms were master suites. This was convenient for us. 2. It's a 2.5 level house, with the entry in the middle, along with half bath and laundry room. Bedrooms and other bathrooms are down stairs, and the kitchen and common areas are on the top. We ended up really loving the floor plan for our busy little ones. The house felt much more spacious than we anticipated. 3. The windows allowed for some AWESOME views of the ocean. Absolutely beautiful. 4. Everything in the house worked, was stocked with the basics, and the water pressure was noticeably fantastic. 5. TONS of walking trails all around, most of which lead to the beach one way or another. And lots of deer! We had a family of them visit us a couple times. 6. The Sea Ranch Vacation Rentals staff were very nice and helpful, and the office is only about 6 miles from the house, right next to the 2 grocery stores in Gualala and the gas station. 7. The hot tub was nice to have, especially in the chilly weather. 8. The beds were comfortable! Cons(ish): 1. This may just be par for the course, but when we walked into the house for the first time, there were spider webs and cob webs everywhere. We were walking through them for the whole first day, and I killed 12 spiders myself. There were more in the days to follow. I don't know if that could have been avoided or not. 2. There are some broken and rusty and water damaged spots in the house. If you like everything pristine, that might be bothersome. It was fine for us, though. 3. There's no internet. Yes, it's listed on the posting, and yes, it's fine to disconnect sometimes--especially on vacation. But there are a few things that would have been much easier for us had we had it. Obviously we still had a great time, though. =) 4. Hot water doesn't last long, so bathing has to be speedy unless you like cold water. Since we're in a drought, that definitely encouraged less water usage. =) Lastly, this isn't quite a con, but you do have to do quite a bit of walking to get down to the beach. If you have any physical limitations, you might take that into consideration. Otherwise, it's very easy trails, and great exercise. =)
