Cozy and Relaxing Stay
Our family tries to visits Plumas once a year. Typically, we stay in the Graeagle area but wanted to try out the Lake Davis area this time. We also brought our dog, so needed a house that allowed dogs and this does. House is located close to the Grizzly Ranch golf course, about a 15-minute drive from Portola and a 30-minute drive from Graeagle. In the winter, it is preferably to have a car with 4-wheel drive as you will need to drive on a dirt road off Grizzly Road to get to the house. We got some snow while there, and although snow was removed one morning and melted away by itself another morning, the road got quite muddy. We had some problems entering the house because of an incorrect lock code to the garage where the house key was stored, but the owner helped us get in relatively quickly. Very nice layout of house, with the Master bedroom and bathroom separated from the other two bedrooms by a large living/dining room. Our extended family of six slept comfortably. However, we couldn't find more than 4 comforters, which is enough for six people, so unsure what beading would be used for a 7th person sleeping on the futon. Master bathroom has a large bath tub for relaxing and soaking. Showers have great pressures and hot water. Kitchen was well equipped with many cooking appliances and utensils. It could have been even better with a cheese slicer and non-plastic wine glasses and plates. (We aren't fans of plastic plates and glasses, but this may not be an issue for other families.) Living/dining room has a gas fireplace of large thermal energy storage capacity, which warmed up the house extremely quickly and kept the house warm and cozy for a long time after we turned it turned down in the late evenings. We found the living/dining room perfectly arranged for playing cards, eating dinner, reading a book, watching TV, doing a puzzle, taking a nap in one of the sofas or on the futon, and even doing some homework/work - we did all the above! House has Wi-Fi access, which was fast the first couple of days that we were there but then got extremely slow the last day and a half because of the monthly plan coverage coming to an end. This wasn't too much of a problem for us, but could be an issue for people that need to work while on vacation. A gorgeous lookout over a waterfall is only a few minutes’ walk from house. We had fun snow-shoeing and hiking in the snow. A very nice, relaxing stay and beautiful scenery. We will be coming back to Plumas!
