Returning renter, Lower Michigan
I have been coming to Harold's on and off since my children were very small. Now I am still coming and bringing my grandchildren with me to enjoy the same wonderful experiences I always had. They all love it just as much as i do. This is where you go for an old-fashioned vacation, none of the hustle and bustle of today's world. The cabins are quaint and are furnished with everything we need. I must admit that the only thing I do miss is a microwave, but we manage just fine. The resort is located in a quiet, peaceful setting with the cabins overlooking beautiful Spider Lake. The kids are free to roam the area at their leisure. The swimming is great for them in the clean, clear and shallow water. There is also a floating raft they can swim out to for jumping and diving. The beach area is sandy with plenty of lounge chairs. We are furnished a boat, so we can go out and tour the lake or go fishing. People also catch fish right from the waters edge without a boat. The owners are on the premises if you should need anything at all and they are very accommodating and also just very nice people. Of course there is Traverse City where we always go for shopping downtown, and the great farmers market which they have on the river every week. Each year we take a little side trip during the week and last year went to the sand dunes for a day. I love taking my first cup of coffee down to the beach in the early morning and watching the lake when everything is still so quiet. There is most always a loon or two swimming around and i love to listen to them. If you are a pizza (or Italian food lover), you have to go to Piegio's (I am sure I did not spell this correctly) restaurant which is located relatively close to Harolds. Kathy always has this posted somewhere in the cabin, along with directions. Try the Sicilian Pizza.
