My best vacation rental experience EVER!
I don't often post reviews online, but absolutely had to in this case. First, kudos to the host! He was very pleasant to deal with and accessible before, during, and after the stay. I actually looked forward to his responses to my sporadic inquires. When I was first shopping around, I sent a list of about 9-10 questions to all prospective hosts. His answers were timely and detailed whereas some other host responses were lacking or even rude. He even apologized (unnecessarily) because he was on a ferry and could only give short answers! Ironic considering that his answers were the most detailed of all hosts and were sufficient as-is. When my wife and I finally chose his property, he made booking as easy as possible, even when I changed the length of our stay. A few days before our arrival, he checked in again to make sure that we had received all necessary information and didn't have any more questions. He already sent a detailed "guide" on the house and there was a bound copy waiting in the kitchen. It provides all sorts of details including his contract info as well as that of a handyman and housekeeper. Instructions for thermostat and hot tub were also included. This house appears exactly as pictured/described in the listing... beautiful. His home office had an abundance of tourist guides, like maps and attraction pamphlets. It was like someone dropped a hotel lobby in there! The house had so many amenities that we didn't have time to take advantage of everything. Sure, you have the fairly common things like washer/dryer, but there were plenty of uncommon ones that made this place premium! For example, 2 game systems on the 65" living room (my kids played the Wii for hours) as well as the super-duper-uber premium cable package! Blu-Ray players on all TVs, BBQ grill, fire pit, hot tub, the list goes on and on! But let's get back to the basics. The place was quiet, clean, and plenty big for the 5 of us. Plenty of clean linens and well as consumables (e.g. laundry supplies, hand soap, paper products, etc.) Everyone could scatter for alone time without being on top of either other. Yet, we could all gather around the table for meals or the TV for The Olympics. It goes without saying that the Zen House will absolutely be our first choice the next time we're in town. I'd go so far as to say that I'd even work my vacation dates around its availability! Be careful, you might have just made a "guest for life"!
