Tranquil and private retreat, convenient location
My husband and I spent a week in August in this lovely cottage. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was set back from the road and situated so that there is privacy but not isolation. Also, the cottage is a quick drive to the center of Phoenicia for restaurants and shops and to the supermarket and roadside fruit stands. It also is a great location from which to explore the Catskill region. The cottage itself is clean and clutter-free with scenic views. There are abundant bath towels, washcloths, and beach towels. Plenty of hot water. The kitchen is supplied with dishes, pots and pans, and flatware, dishwasher, washer and dryer, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, if you're planning to cook (which I mostly did). There is a patio with a gas grill off to the side of the cottage. It made a very pleasant place to have morning coffee and dinner. Also, the air conditioning in the bedrooms was welcomed on a few hot nights. We didn't get to use the pool because we were out all day but we did stop by to put a toe in. It was unfortunate for us because the pool is surrounded by wildflowers and is very pretty. On the downside, and I quibble here, is that I could have used a better mirror. The bathroom mirror is just far enough away and dimly lit that I couldn't see myself. I'm short and nearsighted. Hubby is tall and sees fine so shaving wasn't a problem. So ladies, bring along your own mirror and you'll be fine.
