Lovely cottage near the ocean
First, the cottage was absolutely spotless and incredibly well stocked. It had everything needed for the beach (which is not just down the street, however, as the road drops off into a cliff; you need to go to Ocean Beach by car). Rodney was the best owner ever for helping us with problems--responses truly are in less than an hour. (And we have rented half a dozen homes, from London to Bermuda.) We had a problem with turning on the fire pit. It needed more propane--but an extra tank was available. Just a hint--go to Trader Joe's and buy marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers and make s'mores. My family (21-year-old daughter and 28-year-old son, and husband) had a blast doing this. One thing, which I meant to point out to Rodney, although I am sure he is aware. Tiny ants will invade the kitchen countertops if ANY food is left out. We bought a small well-packaged cake at Trader Joe's but had to throw it out the next morning. Ants also got into some crackers we had re-sealed. An easy solution was to wrap everything well and put it in the refrigerator, which worked well when we wanted to take snacks with us to the beach. I know some people may have complained about airport noise (I live in front of a bus stop; so noise is truly relative). Although a few early-morning flights were audible, it really was not an issue. Parking was also very easy to find, if not in front of, then across from, the cottage. Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay--close to the many amenities of Ocean Beach, but far enough from the hustle and bustle of the main drag.
