Plan to return!
First, the Cons (ish): Had to set up a specific time to be there which is tough when you're trying to relax, vacation, hike, etc. We chose 3:30pm, stressed about being on time, and then waiting 15-20 min to meet the person at the office. Road to cabins: We were fine in our 4x4 pick up truck, but I would never take my car on the approx 1.5mile dirt road to the cabins. Info that would have been good to know: You cannot drive right up to cabins, and though its a short walk from the (somewhat sketchy - again, felt ok w/4wd) parking area it is a relatively steep though short hill down to them and we probably would've brought a radio flyer wagon to wheel down the stuff instead of carrying it all. No access to electricity including in the bathhouse. None of these cons are deal breakers by any means, but good things to know. Not JB's fault: Upon arrival to cabins there were some very nice dogs of other guests running around. Despite my immediate request to one of the adults in the group that they be leashed while we unload the car including our own (leashed) dogs, that request was completely ignored. Apparently we weren't the only ones annoyed by this as another group actually left their cabin a night early as a result. Once staff talked to the group about leashing their dogs they did so right away. Very nice group, just very annoying at the start to have my request blatantly ignored. PROS! Gorgeous, peaceful setting. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise right out the window of the cabin.Totally off the grid which is what I prefer when I'm in the mountains! Very reasonably priced. Very cool that activities (horseback rides, ATV tours) are available on site. Bathhouse was clean, but kind of dark even in the daytime - would bring a headlamp leading up to dusk and obviously at night. We hope to come back with a group and rent all of the cabins to have all the fun and none of the worry about bothering/being bothered by other vacationers!
