Dirty and disappointing
We stayed at this condo on June 21, 22 and 23, 2016. We wish that VRBO allowed travelers to post photos, since we documented our observations with pictures and forwarded them to the owners. Immediately upon arrival, we were dismayed at the condition of the unit: • Smelled of cigarette smoke, though the windows had been left open. An AirWick type freshener that had been left on the kitchen counter did not alleviate the odor. • There were cigarette burn holes in the sofa and carpet in the sitting area. • Though the kitchen counters and bathroom were clean, the baseboards and louvered doors in the kitchen and bathroom were filthy, encrusted with months' worth of dirt. • The window air conditioning unit, sealed with blue painters’ tape, is insufficient to cool the apartment as there is no air flow between/among rooms. This necessitates leaving the windows open, negating the “quiet street” description of the property. • The bed sheets were old, worn and thin, certainly not linens that one would provide a guest. • The listing’s photos are out of date. The actual furniture, which is of a quality usually associated with a college student’s dorm, is cheap, chipped and mismatched. • The property’s description as having been “newly renovated” is misleading. Though there are new kitchen cabinets and counter tops, and an updated bathroom, the rest of the condo seems not to have been touched for many years. The apparent lack of interest in guests’ comfort is sad. We didn’t care that the condo was small, or that the “river views” were primarily of a parking lot with a tiny touch of the Charles visible through one window. We just wanted a clean, comfortable place to relax while touring Boston. This property did not provide that. We wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
