Beautiful simplicity with grand views and cozy comforts
When you drive up the steep road to Half Moon house, you can start to feel a wonderful sense of solitude. I recently spent two nights at the house with friends from Boston and Canada. The setting sits atop a wooded mountainside with plenty of open space and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The building itself is combines classic modern architecture and rustic charm. The space is fairly small, but the large windows, high ceiling, and huge field stone fireplace make it feel spacious and comfortable. For sleeping accomodations, there is a master bedroom with a king bed, a small bedroom with a single bed, a futon, and a small single pull out. These accomodations seemed perfect for our group of four. We cooked several simple meals in the small, but well equipped kitchen. During the day we went sledding on the hill in front of the house, and explored the adjacent woods. In the evening we enjoyed playing board games by the roaring fire and stargazing through the clear night sky. While the house was not exactly 5 star luxury, we feel like we got so much more than what we paid for! With websites like homeaway and Airbnb, some times you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes you break even. This place was a huge win!
