Breath of Fresh Air!
I booked this cabin for a birthday weekend getaway with my husband. It was everything I hoped it would be and then some. Everything was neat and clean and the cabin, charming. I felt like I was staying at somebody's Grandma's house and could feel the love that went in to decorating it. One of the first things I noticed, other than the adorable cabin) were two chairs on the front porch that had warm, fleece throws draped across the back of them. What a nice touch. Then we opened the door of the cabin and I was in Heaven!! It was beautiful! It was cozy and charming and I couldn't stop smiling. Looking around, I noticed a decorative chalkboard hanging on the wall and on it was written, "Welcome to the Guions". Loved the personal touch!! Then I looked in the bedroom and the first thing I noticed was how clean everything smelled. I could tell that the bedding had been freshly laundered and for the first time I wasn't afraid to sit on the bed like I am in a hotel! The bed had warm, flannel sheets on it and then a quilt on top. The bed slept comfortably and we did NOT get cold! In the other room (the kitchen/den/dining area) there was a portable floor heater that sat by the wood-burning stove. I was disappointed to read a sign on top of the stove saying it was out of order. A warm fire would have topped it off but we made do with the floor heater. If there was another source of heat we didn't see it. Not sure if the floor heater would keep you warm in the winter but we were fine. There is a small window air conditioner but that wasn't needed. In the kitchen was a wonderful sink area that sat underneath the window sill. I loved the old fashioned sink! There was no stove . After looking around we found a nice hot-plate that worked perfectly to scramble up some eggs and make some bacon the next morning. The only problem we had with it was it smoked a little when we were cooking the bacon and kept setting off the smoke alarm. I just knew the neighbors (owners?) would show up at our doorstep in their jammies at any minute! The bathroom was small and the shower reminded me of one on a cruise-ship - not much room to turn around in but wasn't much of a problem. We didn't get to meet the owners but we weren't around much. I spoke briefly with Mr. Gene before our trip and he sounded as wonderful as everyone said. We got to meet the chickens and loved their little area out back. I would definitely recommend this little cabin to a couple. I hope to come back sometime. :)
