We had a wonderful time at the Alexander Valley lodge!
My husband and I spent our 60th birthdays, in mid March, at the lodge with a small group of friends. We had the largest room on the third level and it was huge, with a romantic four poster bed and amazing view of the valley. Atleast 4 rooms had king sized beds and adjoining bathrooms. This house is made for parties! The hubbies smoked cigars by the jacuzzi and played poker while the wives blasted music in the split level living room and danced the night away. Saturday morning Danielle arranged a driver and bus to take us to several wineries with some private tastings. Silver oak, Cast and Fritz were amazing and educational! Loved it! Early dinner was at Coppola the "Rustic" restaurant. Again, the food and service was beyond exceptional. On Sunday the chef Martin Courtman came to the house to cook dinner for us. The food and presentation was incredible. Crab cakes, pumpkin, curry soup, walnut pear salad, succulent spareribs, halibut in a butter sauce and fruit crepes and chocolate torte for dessert. It didn't matter that it rained almost the whole time. We sat in the steamy jacuzzi and swam in the cold and invigorating pool anyway. Great friends, good wine, amazing food and people that take pride in renting out a home for the rest of us to enjoy! Before I close the only down side is don't try to drive the winding mountain road at night. It's one lane and sort of precarious in the dark. Great stay, looking forward to going back!
