When we arrived for our 2-day stay, we were greeted by the owners Bonnie and Bob and they showed us around the property. We felt very comfortable and right at home. Some of things that were available to us were a screened in gazebo with a fire-table and a grill, lawn chairs and hammock and a fire-pit along with wood was there too. After Bonnie finished showing us around, the first thing we did was go walk on the beach since it was so close to our suite; we even slept with our patio doors door open so we could hear the waves right out our back door. We were also able to see lights from several lighthouses in Door County shining out in the distance. There was a full moon during our stay so the reflection on the water was beautiful. We could only imagine if it wasn't a full moon how beautiful the stars would be. In the morning we saw a beautiful sunrise, and a Heron walking on the beach. There was also a family of geese swimming in the water. We like history so we asked Bonnie if there any places to visit in the area. We decided to visit Escanaba to see a light house and museum and then found a very good place to eat, "Hereford Hops" ; we recommend it. From there we went over in the Marinette County looking for waterfalls where we saw 3 of them. The best one was Piers Gorge. There were beautiful vistas all along the foot path where you could see the rapids' and also people who were rafting on the river. It was a lot of fun. If you do go , there is a small fee that covers all the parks for a day pass. on our way home we stopped at another great place to eat called Rail House Restaurant and Brewpub. for pizza - delicious! Unfortunately we only stayed 2 memorable nights and were not able to make an open pit fire. However, the clear sky and great weather still made for a lot of fun. We recommend to stay a few more nights to take in all that Marinette and Menomonie have to offer. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves.
