Scenic, rustic getaway
I have to say the view is beautiful from the house. However, I would hesitate to come back. There were no reviews about this place and I did not have many choices by the time I booked. I discovered that this place is also advertised somewhere else after someone came knocking on the door at 11pm. It was quite odd being that this place is in a remote location and we had all gone to bed before 10pm. Apparently, the place was double booked. Whoever knocked on the door left and we were not bothered after that. More description of the place would've given me a better idea of what to expect. The owner is an antique dealer I believe and has many, many things in the house. There were spiders and spiderwebs in all the rooms. We were told that we shouldn't drink the water from the tap but use the drinking water supplied in the gallon containers on the kitchen floor and in the refrigerator. The shower has enough warm water for one shower. Driving to the place was interesting from the freeway. The road got narrower and more bumpy as the miles went by, eventually ending up on a rough asphalt road with potholes then, a dirt road with ruts. I would not recommend washing your car before you come up and definitely no low sports cars. On the bright side, the view was wonderful, it was very quiet, stars were abundant at night, and we enjoyed seeing the horses. Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
