Everything we hoped for
We were planning our next visit to this cabin before we finished the first. It's an 1860, two-room log cabin, and feels like stepping back into history -- a history with a king-size bed, down comforter, and electric lights and plumbing. The cabin was cozy and romantic. In fact, every time we walked into it, we had a hard time dragging ourselves back out. We were glad we did, though. This property backs up to Pike National Forest, and for two days, we were the only people we saw there. We rockhounded and found dozens of amazonite stones (so beautiful and blue). We went for hikes and climbed over the massive boulders that frame the forest. At night, we sat around a firepit, then enjoyed the woodburning stove when we went inside. At the same time, we were just three minutes from a general store and a pizzeria. Convenience, comfort & isolation! Our hosts were perfect: friendly, informative, and accommodating, but not at all intrusive. They seemed to appear only when we needed something.
