Lovely vacation on farm.
We really enjoyed our recent vacation on the farm which over looks the Bay of Fundy. The house is actually bigger than we expected from the photos. We were pleasantly surprised to find a fully fenced yard for our dog which meant we could just let him outside by opening the kitchen door. Our dog loved the path leading to the back pasture and started eatting the wild black berries along the fence. Although the weather was warm while we were there, it was always cooled down at night. The care taker of the property is always available by phone and he was very helpful. We enjoyed waking up to the cawing of crows in the morning and we could see the horses and donkey from one side of the bedroom window and on the other side of the room the fields and Bay. There are lots of things to do but it does require some driving. The Hampton Wharf is only a mile a way and a great spot to watch sunsets. Close to the turn off to Hampton Wharf is a farm that sells fresh blueberries on the honour system of payment. I went to a weekly yard sale around the corner and picked up a great piece of folk are of a chicken welded together with scaps from an older gentlemen who lived in the area. There is a great seafood restaurant on the same road as the farm house about 5 miles down the road past Parker's Cove - a very charming wharf. Bridgetown and Annapolis Royale have great farmer's markets on the weekends. We also enjoyed local muscians at the "End of the Line", in Bridgetown in a renovated trainstation. There are lots of places to explore such as Brier Island and the beautiful Mavillette Beach Provincial Park. We enjoyed walking around the fort at Port-Royal National Historic Site which is a reconstruction of a settlement from 1605. There are beautiful properties along the road to the site and a charming antique store. On our final day we went to Bear River and went to the beautiful art gallery and store "Flight of Fancy". We met the owener Rob Buckland-Nicks- who is also an amazing artist. After exploring the local area it was always a pleasure to come back to the farm!
