Charming Wilmington Apartment
Want to feel like you LIVE in historic downtown charming Wilmington? We certainly felt like we did for a spring weekend at 109 Church St. Our daughter and son-in-law were attending a wedding in downtown Wilmington and we agreed to keep our 21 month old grandson for them. Destination wedding for them - why not destination weekend for us too? Joey is the homeowner extraordinaire. He was quick to respond and has thought of everything to make your stay welcoming, comfortable and memorable. Upon arrival we found a welcome note and snacks - even bunny crackers for the grandson! 109 Church Street is nestled in a beautiful historic neighborhood with plenty of on street parking. The downstairs apartment of the two story home is extremely spacious and filled with light as there are huge windows in each room - large living room, small office where we put the pack-n-play for our grandson, queen bedroom with large closet, open kitchen (everything you'd need to cook if you're so inclined) and dining area and hall bath complete with washer and dryer. This has NO sterile hotel room feel - you truly feel like you're at home. The wrap around porch is ideal for relaxing and watching the world go by - neighbors out for a stroll, dog walkers and even a two horse drawn sightseeing tour wagon makes its rounds by the house a few times each day. Hearkens one back to a different time. The River Walk begins a block away beneath the stately mansions overlooking the Cape Fear. We strolled this numerous times over the weekend and enjoyed the historical plaques filling you in on days gone by. Numerous Restaurants (2 blocks away - The Pilot House bar faces the water - great food and superb staff) and shops line the walk through downtown with barges and boats plying the river. Front Street (Main Street) runs parallel with further restaurants, bars, museums and shops (even two small local grocery stores). We meandered the cross streets between Front and 3rd to take in the tidy gardens and homes all meticulously cared for. Everything you need is within walking distance. However if you wish to explore further, Wrightsville Beach is but a short drive and Carolina and Kure Beach (with nice Aquarium) a few miles south. Enjoy!
Spacious and sunny apartment close to downtown and great outdoor space too!
